Jim Haskell’s book, Video Poker Heaven, was very insightful and easy to read. It’s worth checking out. He has done the research and even references a practice website (www.videopoker.com) that tells you where to find the video poker games. I think Jim accomplished his goal very well in writing this book and it may answer a lot of questions and spark some interesting discussions. I think the fact that Jim is candid about who he is and how he conducted his research makes it appealing to anyone who simply loves video poker and wants to improve their game (and odds) while still having fun. I have played video poker for many years, but only played traditional Deuces Wild and Jacks or Better poker. While I knew there were other video poker games to play I have been reluctant to play something I didn't know how to play. However, I didn't know there were so many new variations of ways to win via bonus type machines and still play poker. Via this book, I have read about and learned some new games that are fun and like any gambling game, if you get lucky, you can win big. I like the author's style of introducing games and not just provide facts and probabilities etc. to win. To me this book is about enjoying playing the game and if you win big it is fantastic. JOHN T.
The author has done the research so you don't have to. This book offers insight to the various video poker games out there and helps you make better decisions, not only on how to play, but what games to choose. It also helped answer many questions I had on the best ways to play to increase my odds and still find it entertaining. The author is very honest about who he is and why he wrote the book. MATTHEW O.
It is obvious that James has done a lot of research into this subject. This book has piqued an interest in trying Video Poker. I usually pass up the poker games in the casino. Now with James' tips and research I can try out some of his ideas. Some poker hands are difficult to decide what to do. With this book in hand there are greater chances of a win. Thanks to the author and his research, Video Poker may become my go to game. CINDY E.
